CenterPoint Passed 500 Miles of Hardened Power Lines — Look Up Your Street

CenterPoint says it passed 500 miles of hardened distribution power lines as of August 4, part of the Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative. The company is on pace to harden 750 miles by the end of this year. Hardening means replacing the poles, conductors, transformers and other equipment on a line with versions built to take more wind. Across the full program the figures are larger: more than 75,500 storm-resistant poles installed, over 850 miles of line moved underground, vegetation management along more than 13,000 miles, and more than 750 automated switching devices that reroute power around a break instead of waiting on a crew.

It shows finished work only, not what's underway or planned, which the company says it intends to change. It takes about a minute.
