Bayou City Art Festival, Accordion Kings & Queens, and the Affordable Art Fair
Here are three things worth putting on the calendar over the next ten days. The Bayou City Art Festival is back in Memorial Park Friday through Sunday, October 9 to 11, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. About 300 artists set up in the picnic area off South Picnic Lane with paintings, prints, jewelry, sculpture and functional pieces, and there is live music and a food truck area. Tickets are sold online at bayoucityartfestival.com.
On Saturday night, October 10, Texas Folklife presents the 37th annual Accordion Kings & Queens at Miller Outdoor Theatre at 7 p.m., with Rockin' Dopsie Jr. and The Zydeco Twisters headlining. The concert is free. Seating on the hill needs no ticket, and free tickets for the covered seats open on Miller's website at 10 a.m. the day before. The following week, the Affordable Art Fair runs October 15 to 18 at the George R. Brown Convention Center, with original work priced from $100 to $12,000. General admission opens Friday at noon, and Saturday and Sunday have family hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
I grew up in Houston, and October has always been a good month to get out and see the city. If you are thinking about buying or selling this fall, call me at 281-818-8177 or book a time at le-rocks.com, and we can talk through what makes sense for you.
